MaxFlow® Compatibility With Performance Exhaust or Port Tuning

MaxFlow®  filters are engineered to deliver full intake airflow within the saw’s tested configuration under SAE J335 and USFS 5100A. For this reason, MaxFlow® expressly disclaims responsibility or liability for the use of our products in combination with any modified, non‑approved, or performance‑enhancing exhaust or engine accessory. Any such modification removes the saw from its certified configuration without exception.

That said, many operators choose to install free‑flow exhaust systems to change the saw’s sound, responsiveness, or RPM characteristics. MaxFlow® filters work perfectly alongside these modifications by ensuring the intake side of the engine is never the limiting factor. Exhaust systems  help the engine exhale; MaxFlow® helps it inhale. Both sides of the airflow system must be unrestricted for the saw to perform at its best.

MaxFlow® filters do not increase exhaust temperature or alter exhaust flow. Instead, they provide 100% of the intake airflow the engine can use, even under heavy load, even as dust accumulates. This sustained airflow is essential for maintaining torque, throttle response, and consistent cutting performance.

Factory mufflers are designed primarily for noise reduction. Opening the  exhaust outlet can make the saw louder and feel more aggressive — and  many users enjoy that. Whether you choose to modify your exhaust is entirely personal, but MaxFlow® does not require any porting or exhaust changes to deliver its full intake‑airflow advantage.

There's no such thing as a qualified aftermarket muffler mod — the moment you touch the exhaust, you're operating unqualified equipment. MaxFlow gives you a real airflow gain without touching the exhaust at all, so your saw stays exactly as qualified as the day it left the factory.
Any modification to a chainsaw’s exhaust, engine, or external configuration—including but not limited to aftermarket or modified mufflers or muffler faces, ported mufflers, straight pipes, ported cylinders, timing changes, compression‑ratio changes, unapproved felling dogs, unapproved handlebars, or any accessory that alters exhaust output, temperature, or the saw’s tested configuration—will void the saw’s qualification for legal operation on USFS or BLM lands. 

MaxFlow® expressly disclaims all responsibility and liability for the use of our products in combination with any performance‑enhancing, modified, or non‑approved exhaust, engine, or external accessory.
By installing or using MaxFlow® products, the user acknowledges and agrees that:

• They are solely responsible for ensuring their equipment complies with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
• They assume all risks associated with modifying their saw beyond factory specifications, including changes to exhaust flow, engine output, or external configuration.
• MaxFlow® makes no warranty—express or implied—regarding the safety, legality, or performance of any saw equipped with non‑approved modifications.
• MaxFlow® shall not be liable for any damage, injury, regulatory violation, or loss arising from the use of our products in combination with non‑approved exhaust systems, ported components, altered engine configurations, or other performance‑altering accessories.

Installation or use of MaxFlow® products constitutes acceptance of this disclaimer and acknowledgment that all modifications are performed at the user’s own risk.
